You can choose to attempt optional subject in one language and other papers of mains in another language. So, for papers 1-5 you have to choose one particular language and for optional papers ie. Paper 6-7 you can choose another language. For example, suppose you take optional in English medium and you take GS and essay papers in Hindi medium, it is fine. But remember this is not applicable for the compulsory language papers.
